Alignment is a process that allows you re-use already translated content by creating a translation memory from existing translations, instead of starting from scratch.
If you have valuable translation material from previous projects but don't have any translation memory, we can create one by aligning your previously translated material i.e. putting the original and translated documents side by side and comparing them to determine which sentence pairs belong together.
Alignment allows you to take advantage of previously translated material to save time and money on your future translations and also improve your documentation consistency. It is particularly useful in cases when you need to update a previously translated document, such as a manual, or when you need consistency to be maintained between an existing translation and a new translation project. If you have a large amount of material from previous translations but don't have the corresponding translation memory, we can still help: our localization specialists can create a translation memory from a wide range of file formats and help you make big savings on your future translation projects.
We can create translation memories from documents in the following formats:
Winalign tool | SDL Align tool |
---|---|
|
OpenTag (OTF)
|
In addition to alignment, we can also create a multilingual terminology database from previous translations of your documentation in order to help ensure the accuracy and consistency of the terminology to be used in your next translation projects.
